Start Here: Booking Your First Appointment

Your journey with Open Door Group begins when you reach out to our friendly Administrative team. Whether you call, email, or walk in, our staff are here to answer your questions, explain available services, and help determine your eligibility for support. If eligible, you'll be booked for an appointment either online or in person at one of our Open Door Group-operated WorkBC locations.

 

Step 1: Intake and Enrollment

At your first appointment, we’ll verify your identification and eligibility documents. Once verified, you’ll be officially enrolled into WorkBC services and matched with a dedicated Employment Specialist who will guide you through the rest of your journey.

 

Step 2: Discover Your Path

You will meet with an assigned Employment Specialist who will support you in the following areas:

  • Clarifying your career goals and employment needs
  • Assessing your skills, interests, and strengths
  • Identifying barriers and creating a customized action plan

Whether you’re new to the workforce, changing careers, or returning after a break, we’ll work together to set the right course for you.

 

Step 3: Build Your Skills

If training or preparation is needed, you’ll have access to: Job readiness workshops (resumes, interviews, workplace culture) Short-term skills training and certifications; Job clubs and mock interviews to boost your confidence; Self-paced online learning through our cohorts.

 

Step 4: Connect with Employers

We’ll help you explore job opportunities and connect with inclusive employers. This includes: Access to exclusive job postings, Recruitment events and job fairs; Unpaid work experiences to gain on-the-job skills; Wage subsidy opportunities to ease the hiring process for employers

 

Step 5: Start Your Job with Confidence

Once you’ve secured employment, we’ll provide: Job start financial supports (gear, equipment, transportation); Ongoing job coaching and check-ins; Strategies for sustaining employment and workplace success

 

Step 6: Ongoing Support for Long-Term Success

Even after you’re hired, we stay connected to ensure long-term success. Our follow-up services include: Regular progress reviews; Additional coaching and/or referrals as needed; Continued access to job search and training resources
