      WorkBC’s free employment services can help you find – and keep – a job. Each center caters specifically to the employment needs of local residents. WorkBC team members will help you access the services and resources you need including:

      • Job search services and resources

      • Work experience placements (wage subsidy)
      • Personal employment planning
      • Self employment

      Every WorkBC Centre has a fully staffed resource room and offers free tools to help you with your job search, including:

      • Computers & internet access
      • Telephones & faxing
      • Photocopy & scanning
      • Multilingual services

      • Job search workshops
      • Referrals to other community supports

          Who Services Are For

          To be eligible for WorkBC employment services, you must be legally allowed to work in British Columbia.

          Whether you are unemployed, have a disability, or are currently employed in a job with irregular hours (e.g., casual work, on-call work) or unreliable pay (e.g., piecework, commission) that does not provide enough income to support you or your family, WorkBC services are designed to help you achieve long-term employment success.

          Accessing Services

          WorkBC team members can meet with you in person at one of WorkBC Centers, virtually through phone or video conference, or in-person out in the community through outreach.

        Tap into recruitment events across service areas such as inclusive hiring fairs, conferences, speed interviews, labor market information sessions, and employer presentations. Check our upcoming events page to learn more!

        You can post open positions on the WorkBC job board. WorkBC centres also provide space for employers to meet and conduct interviews with potential candidates.

        WorkBC’s skilled and experienced staff will help you conduct job assessments, job short-listing, pre-screening and matching services to fill the positions. Eligible candidates and employers for the WorkBC program will also benefit from job-start financial support to sustain the position.

        WorkBC staff work closely with employers to identify and streamline an employment pipeline to provide short-term skills training to eligible candidates. Training includes short-term certifications, soft skills, essential skills and on-the-job skills training and work experience.

        The WorkBC Unpaid Work Experience helps employers find workers faster by eliminating hiring & training costs and benefits job seekers to gain the skills that they need, while building their work experience.

        The program provides financial support to inclusive hiring employers who hire and retain unrepresented candidates by covering up to 50% of new employee wages for up to 24 weeks. Post-placement supports are also provided, such as check-ins to review progress and job coaches to assist with orientation and support.
